A rejected payment is retried three times in total, with 48 hours between attempts. From the first rejection until backups stop, approximately four days pass.
What happens after the first rejection
- Safenix makes the first payment attempt.
- If it fails, Safenix retries the payment after 48 hours.
- If the second attempt fails, Safenix makes the third and final attempt after another 48 hours.
After every failed attempt, you receive an email stating the payment amount, which attempt failed, and when the next attempt will take place.
Backups continue normally during these retries. Nothing is deleted.
Why the payment may have been rejected
Safenix does not receive the rejection reason from the payment provider, so the email does not include one. Common causes include an expired card, a card replaced by your bank, or a bank rejecting a recurring payment it has not seen before.
Some technical errors in the payment system do not count as card rejections. In those cases, the payment is retried without reducing the three available attempts, and no warning email is sent.
What happens after the third failed attempt
After the third payment attempt fails, backups stop. This does not delete your existing backups: they remain exactly as they are. Access to the dashboard and billing page also remains available.
Non-payment does not suspend your account. Suspension is separate and only concerns decisions made by Safenix for reasons unrelated to billing.
How to restart backups
You can add or replace your card at any time from the billing page.
- Add or replace the card.
- The payment is taken immediately, and any remaining payment attempts are cancelled.
If backups have already stopped, adding a card restarts everything without losing any existing backups.
Important: the 30-day deletion deadline
If no payment is recorded within 30 days after backups stop, the account and all its backups are deleted permanently and irreversibly. Safenix sends a warning before this deadline.
To avoid permanent deletion, add or replace the card before the 30-day period expires.
