Reset your Safenix dashboard password from the login page using the “Forgotten your password?” link.
On the Safenix login page, select “Forgotten your password?”.
Enter the exact email address you use to sign in.
Open the email you receive and follow its link to choose a new dashboard password.
Return to the login page and sign in normally with your new password. You will still be asked for your authentication app code, as usual.
Important details about the reset link
- The link can be used only once.
- It expires after one hour, whether you use it or not.
- Requesting another reset link invalidates the previous link.
- The link only lets you choose a new password. It does not sign you in to the account.
If you do not receive the email
Check your junk or spam folder and verify that you entered the exact email address used to access Safenix.
The page gives the same response whether the email address belongs to a Safenix account or not. This prevents anyone from discovering which email addresses have Safenix accounts.
What happens to existing sessions
Setting a new dashboard password closes all open sessions for that account on every device.
This is deliberate. Someone who gains access to your email could change the dashboard password, but they would still be unable to access the account without the second factor.
If you also lost your second factor
If you have lost both your authentication app and your recovery codes, recovery is not automatic. Contact Safenix, because there is then no automatic proof that can establish the identity of the person requesting access.
Your dashboard password is not your encryption password
This procedure does not affect the encryption password for your backups. It is separate: Safenix does not possess or see that password and cannot recover it.
Losing your dashboard password does not put your backups at risk. Losing the encryption password makes the backups permanently unreadable.
