Permanent deletion is irreversible and destroys all Safenix backups. Before starting, restore anything you need and save it elsewhere. After deletion is executed, no part of the backups can be recovered by anyone.
When permanent deletion is available
An active account cannot be permanently deleted. The account must first be closed, and there must be no active subscription. Permanent deletion becomes available only 30 days after the account was closed. This waiting period provides time to recover your data.
Only the account owner can start permanent deletion.
What you need to start deletion
Provide all of the following in the same operation:
- Your account password.
- The code from your authentication app. Recovery codes are not accepted because replacing an authentication app is recoverable, while this operation is not.
- The account name, typed exactly.
- Confirmation of how many servers are registered.
If the registered-server count has changed, the operation stops and asks you to review and confirm the count again.
Start the permanent-deletion operation
Starting this operation is destructive and irreversible after execution. Make sure you have restored and saved elsewhere anything you need before proceeding.
- Confirm that the account has been closed for at least 30 days and that no subscription is active.
- As the account owner, provide the required password, authentication-app code, exact account name, and registered-server count.
- Confirm the permanent-deletion operation.
After it is started, deletion is executed 48 hours later. This is not a reconsideration period for the person who started it; that person has already had the 30-day waiting period. The 48 hours gives other people on the account time to notice the operation.
Everyone on the account receives an email when the countdown starts. Any of them can stop the countdown with one click, without further confirmation. Until deletion is executed, nothing has been removed.
What is deleted
When the operation is executed, Safenix deletes:
- All accesses and sessions.
- Server credentials.
- Backup and server records.
- Payment history.
- The registered card data.
- All stored backups.
What Safenix retains
The following records remain deliberately:
- Issued invoices and tax checks, retained for ten years as required by law.
- The compliance register. It contains identifiers, sizes, and fingerprints, but never file names, contents, addresses, or server names. It cannot be deleted without compromising evidence for all other customers.
- The account identifier, so it is never reused.
- The fact that legal documents were accepted, including their version and date, but not the name of the person who accepted them.
Deletion certificate
Safenix produces and sends a deletion certificate when the operation is complete. It states what was deleted, when it was deleted, what was retained and why, and explicitly says that it does not cover copies on your own servers or copies you downloaded yourself. Safenix does not touch those copies.
