What happens when you exceed your included backup space

Your backups continue when your account exceeds its included space, and you can choose how to bring usage back within the plan.

Your backups do not stop when you exceed the space included in your plan. They are not rejected or slowed down, and Safenix does not automatically charge you for additional space.

How Safenix measures backup space

Once an hour, Safenix asks the storage infrastructure how much space is actually occupied by your account's backups and adds that usage together. The measurement is based on the space occupied in storage, not on usage reported by your servers.

What notifications you receive

When your usage exceeds the space included in your plan, Safenix sends one email. It states how much space is occupied, how much is included in your plan, and reminds you that backups will continue.

When your usage falls below the included threshold again, Safenix sends a second email.

How to respond

You can choose the option that best fits your account:

  1. Add space from the Billing section of the dashboard.
  2. Move to a larger plan.
  3. Reduce the data being protected by removing unnecessary paths from the backup list. Backups already taken remain until their normal expiry.
  4. Reply to the notification email if none of these options is suitable.

Additional space is not activated automatically. Activating it would create a higher monthly charge than the one authorised for your account, so it requires your explicit confirmation.

Storage space is separate from server and backup limits

The server allowance in your plan works differently from storage space. If you try to register a server beyond that allowance, registration is rejected.

Backup frequency is not limited in any way.
