Add or remove people from your Safenix account

Add or remove account users, transfer ownership, and understand how dashboard access differs from backup encryption access.

A Safenix account has one owner. Everyone else is an observer. The owner can add and remove people and transfer ownership. An observer can see everything in the account but cannot change anything.

Add a person

New people are added as observers.

  1. Open the People section.
  2. Enter the person's email address.
  3. Give the temporary password to the person through a secure channel.

When the person signs in for the first time, they choose their own password and configure their authentication app.

Remove a person

Removing a person ends their access immediately and closes all of their open sessions. The removed person is not notified.

  1. Open the People section.
  2. Use the button next to the person's name.

The account owner cannot remove themself. To leave the account, the owner must first transfer ownership to another person.

Transfer ownership

Ownership can be transferred to an existing observer. The change is immediate: the selected observer becomes the owner, and the previous owner becomes an observer.

  1. Open the People section.
  2. Choose an existing observer to become the new owner.

An account never has two owners and never remains without an owner.

Account access and backup access are separate

Dashboard access and the encryption password for backups are separate. Adding a person gives them access to the account dashboard, but does not give them access to the backups. Removing a person removes their dashboard access, but does not remove access to the backups.

Backup access depends on the encryption password kept by the customer on their own servers.
